2012–2013 Season Auditions
Clockwise Theatre will hold general auditions for its 2012–2013 season on Saturday July 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday July 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
Important Details
- Please bring four headshots/resumes (or snapshots if you don't have a headshot) and a two to four minute prepared monologue of your choosing.
- Season includes Soul Sisters, Cars and Quinceañeras (world premiere), and The Party in the Kitchen (world premiere).
- Rehearsals are held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6:30PM to 9:30PM and one weekend daytime rehearsal TBD, over an eight week span.
- Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Call time is one hour before curtain.
- During the run there will pick-up rehearsals Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
- All actors are paid $20.00 per-performance for a total of 12 performances.

Our Location
- All auditions, rehearsals, and performances take place at Clockwise Theatre at 221 North Genesee St. Waukegan. We are one door north of the historic Genesee Theatre in downtown Waukegan.
- Before scheduling your audition, be sure you know where we're located, how to get here, and if you would be able to arrange transportation to-and-from rehearsals, pick-up rehearsals, and performances.
- For commuting actors: The Metra station is located three blocks south of the theatre. Rehearsal times are set to coincide with the Metra schedule. Commuting artists will be provided a ride to the Metra station after evening rehearsals. First choice: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21 (You will be seen between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.) Second choice: 11:30 a.m., Sunday, July 22 (You will be seen between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.)
- You will receive a return e-mail confirming your audition slot.
- Actors will been seen as they arrive during their assigned hour slot. (So, if you're running a few minutes late, don't worry! You can sign in and be seen when you arrive.)
The Plays and Their Characters
Soul Sisters by Joanne Koch & Sarah Blacher Cohen, directed by Joyce Becker Lee
Two great performers—one Jewish, one African American, help each other through public success, personal tragedy and a rediscovery of their roots. Featuring original and traditional music, including songs by Billie Holiday and Debbie Friedman, Soul Sisters celebrates Jewish and African American cultures, recognizing conflicts between the two and joyously finding common ground through music and shared struggles.
Available roles:
- CLEO WILLIAMS, 20s-30s, African American, a newcomer to Chicago, working as a waitress. If you would like to be considered for the role of Cleo, please choose 16 bars to sing acapella in addition to your audition monologue.
- STANLEY KLEIN, 40s-50s, Sandra Langley’s Manager
Notes:
The role of Stanley is a non-singing role. The role of Sandra has been cast.

Cars and Quinceañeras by Susan Lieberman, directed by Juan Castaneda
When two Mexican-American families are brought together by chance, everyone is changed by the choices which follow. Cars and Quinceañeras explores the difference between traditional rites of passage and the true meaning of maturity.
- Rehearsals begin November 19th, 2012
- Rehearsals will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30-9:30PM, and one weekend day, TBD
- Holiday break from December 20th-January 1st
- Tech Weekend, January 19th & 20th, 2013
- Opens January 25th, 2013
- Pick-up rehearsals during the run, Thursdays at 7PM
- Closes February 17th
Available roles:
- ANNA, young adult can play teen, Latina, or can play Latina. Anna is a level headed and intelligent high school freshmen, who deals with making choices between her needs and wants
- MIRIAM, young adult to early 20's Latina or can play Latina. Miriam is an ambitious and musically inclined high school senior who tends to get a bit over excited under pressure.
- NELI, young adult can play teen, or can play Latina. Neli is an outgoing, friendly high school freshmen, and good friend of Anna's.
- INES, mid 30's to 40's Latina or can Play Latina. Mother of Anna, Ines is a hard working, loving mother, who is level headed and always
does what she needs to do to provide for her children.
- RAMIRO, mid 30's to 40's Latino or can play Latino. Ramiro is the father of Anna, Ramiro bounces from job to job, and his head is stuck back in his grandfather's hacienda in Mexico.
- DONA, mid 30's to 40's Latina or can play Latina. Mother of Ana, Dona is a loving mother who works at the local dry cleaners and is secretly excited about becoming a grandmother.
The Party in the Kitchen by Madelyn Sergel
Beginning on an idyllic early fall day in September 2001, a group of friends gather, unsuspecting of the upheaval to follow. From business tycoon Guy and Ava's tumultuous marriage, just-getting-started Danny and his pregnant wife Mary, and middle management Phil and Lily's happy home, all will be changed by events already launched in far away lands and the deals made in distant corporate headquarters.

- MARY, 30s, new to the neighborhood, trying to do everything “right” but scared underneath, Latina
- DANNY, 30s, married to Mary, eager, starting to work his way up the ladder, Latino
- ERIC, 25, son of Ava and Guy, educated, observant, disabled in a wheelchair
- SAMANTHA, 16, daughter of Lily and Phil
