Doug’s professional acting career spans 30 years and more than 60 stage credits, as well as work in radio, television, film and commercials. He is an original ensemble member of Chicago’s critically acclaimed Shattered Globe Theatre Company and served as President and Managing Artistic Director of The Gurnee Theatre Company, which he co-founded in 2001. Recently, Doug starred in the role of Victor in Arthur Miller’s The Price for Chicago’s Shattered Globe Theatre Company. Doug has been nominated for multiple Jeff Citations and Jeff awards and received a "Jeff" for Supporting Actor in 1995 for his nationally recognized performance in the Chicago premiere of The Manchurian Candidate. In 1996, he reprised his role co-starring with Kelsey Grammer for Los Angeles Theatre's On the Air, which is now part of Chicago's Museum of Broadcast History. He has also been a member of several Jeff Citation awarded ensembles.

He’s performed with many Chicago theatres, including American Theatre Company, Bailiwick, Chicago Dramatists, Light Opera Works, Next Theatre, Shattered Globe, Stage Left, and Steppenwolf.

Doug is an active member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and Actors Equity (AEA). His directing credits include stage works for Shattered Globe Theatre, Northside Story Productions, the touring company of Koch-Cohen Productions, Kalibre Productions and The Gurnee Theatre Company. He has also directed projects for video and television and directed his first independent film in the fall of 2007. His most recent directorial film release, the short film, "THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE" was recently screened at the Queens International Film Festival and The New York International Film and Video Festival in NY and LA. It receives its Canadian Premier at the Worldwide Short Film Festival 2010 in Toronto, Canada on June 1st and then opens back in New York at the 2010 Manhattan Film Festival on July 21st. He tutored privately with Sir Geoffrey Connor of The National Theatre of Great Britain and was trained at the London Shakespeare Academy. He has been teaching acting to children and adults since 1994.

Doug is one of the premier film acting coaches in Chicago and serves on the staff of Acting Studio Chicago and the Actors Training Center in Wilmette. He also serves on the boards of Coincidence Films and WinesomeMuse Entertainment, and the Artistic Advisory Board of Clockwise Theatre. In 2006 Doug received a Volunteer of The Year Award for his work with the developmentally disabled for an acting program he developed for Northpointe Resources in Zion, IL. He resides in Gurnee with his two daughters.
